MEET THE MASTERS
This is a new visual arts program offered by Houston Arts Alliance to teachers and students in Houston County. Two volunteer presenters, an artist and storyteller, will bring the art and artist to life with a short story told in the first person, while an artist paints a picture in the style or genre of the artist being discussed. The presentation is followed by a hands-on art activity with the students. Old masters offered for the 2005-2006 school year include Cassatt, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Monet, O'Keefe, Picasso, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Seurat.
For the 2004-2005 School year, Houston Arts Alliance board members Peggy Vesely and Diana Tresslar presented Van Gogh and Picasso to two groups of students at Morningside Elementary in Perry and to fourth grade students at Westside Christian Academy in Warner Robins. The program was met with great enthusiasm by both teachers and students.
